How can I help

Finding foster families for these young people is our most urgent need.  But protecting, supporting and welcoming refugee youth is the responsibility of the entire community. And there are many ways to help refugee youth in need in your community. 

Become a Foster Parent
  • LSS Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Program urgently need for qualified enthusiastic individuals willing to open their hearts and homes to refugee youth.

Become a Volunteer:
  • Mentor or a tutor for our refugee youth
  • Create a job training internship
  • Provide a job at your company
  • Offer reduced rent
  • Provide respite care
  • Provide a ride
  • Provide free legal assistance

Become a Donor
  • Sponsor a young person's activities (camp, music lessons, sports team, gymnastics, art program, field trips)
  • Help with holiday gifts or party
  • Help with prom or graduation expenses
  • Help with post-high school education
  • Support a youth in transition

  • Contribute to or start a scholarship fund
  • Make a charitable gift to Lutheran Social Services designated for the URM program
