The LSS Post Adoption Resource Center (PARC) offers an array of counseling and programs geared to the unique joys and challenges of adoption and adoptive family life. Understanding that adoption is a lifelong journey, the PARC counsels families and children of all faiths and backgrounds, from infancy through adulthood. PARC offers counseling, educational programs for parents and children, peer support for adopted children and teens, adoptee mentorship programs, a monthly topic-focused "Adoption Talk" series, cultural programs and events, and recreational and social activities for adults, children and families touched by adoption. In addition, the PARC staff, many of whom are adoptive parents and adoptees themselves, are recognized for expertise in providing training and consultation on adoption-related issues to schools, human services professionals and other community organizations.

Addressing the Transracial Identity Question
Lutheran Social Services has partnered with the Evan B. Donaldson Institute in New York, and the Kinship Center in
California in an effort to answer the question: “How do we help children who have been transracially adopted form a
healthy identity?” Based on the groundbreaking study conducted by the Evan B. Donaldson Institute entitled “Beyond Culture Camp,” this triad of well-established organizations have invited others in the adoption community to
collaborate in designing a curriculum for children and their parents to use during the critical period when children are
forming their identities. By bringing the adoption community together the hope is that this curriculum will be well-informed, comprehensive, and based on valid research, as well as the professional and personal experiences of top people in the field. We are very excited to be part of such an important endeavor that will potentially benefit adoptive parents, children and families. Initial seed funding for the project comes from the LSSNE Foundation.
