The LSS Foundation receives, manages and distributes charitable gifts to LSS and the LSS Foundation for the purposes of supporting the organization’s clients and ministries in New England. The LSS Foundation solicits and assists donors in making current gifts as well as planned future gifts and is dedicated to caring for people in need now and for the foreseeable future, regardless of their background or belief.

Message from the Foundation This is the first regular message from the LSS Foundation. Topics will range from news about our board to tips and sound advice about charitable giving. LSS has received an exciting and unique “in-kind” gift. Last month the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) purchased the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Worcester. Gail Bucher, an LSS board member, is a graduate of MCPHS and a friend of its president, Dr. Charles Monahan. With Gail’s encouragement, Dr. Monahan agreed to donate excess furniture from the Crowne Plaza or from its other campus locations to LSS for our residential programs. Already MCPHS has given eighteen sets of bedroom furniture to LSS. Two went to a residential teen program and the remainder to refugee families. We expect more items in the near future. This gift shows how influential volunteers can be in helping us to address the needs of our clients. ACTION NEEDED: Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has announced a new program called “Choice Dollars,” in which members whose premiums exceed a certain threshold will be able to designate a charity of their choice as a recipient of “choice dollars.” We want to encourage all friends of LSS who qualify as Thrivent members to consider designating LSS as their charity of choice for this new program. By following the instructions that you will receive in the mail, you could bring a gift of as much as $500 to LSS!
