About ILAPLSS Immigration Legal Assistance

The Immigration Legal Assistance Program (ILAP) was established by Lutheran Social Services (LSS) on July 1, 2000, to provide legal assistance to low-income immigrants and refugees in Central Massachusetts who are applying for citizenship and adjustment of status (i.e., “green card”). In the course of its development, the need for more extensive services became evident. Since 2000, ILAP has expanded its services significantly to include pro bono legal representation of asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors as well as survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

ILAP receives funding from a variety of sources, including the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, Greater Worcester Community Foundation, private foundations, and individual donations. In addition, ILAP currently hosts an Equal Justice Works fellow, who is sponsored by Greenberg Traurig LLP.  We are always seeking new sources of support. Please visit the Get Involved section of the website to learn how to help.
