Creative Solutions for Living and Working
Tutoring
By matching tutors who specialize in the needs of students, we assist them to increase their competence in the chosen subject areas. Hours are flexible, based on individual needs, and supports are creative to accommodate each individuals learning style.
Community Based Support
Our citizens of today, and tomorrow are our future. We support these citizens to be as fully involved in community life as they choose to be, through membership in civic organizations, political groups, as consumers of community services, and as a participant in community based activities. We provide training and support to increase independence in the community as it relates to transportation, safety, consumer services, work, learning and social interactions. The opportunities for individual’s are limited only by their interests and the availability of those activities.
A Partnership In Learning
Our Partnership In Learning Project offers opportunities for individuals to participate in integrated and affordable educational activities during the day within the Concord community. We partner with area colleges and educators to provide an array of learning opportunities. Last summer, we provided a series of classes on nutrition and exercise in partnership with Merrimack Cooperative Extension at NHTI. Throughout the fall and winter, we have been providing Watercolor, Movement and Drumming classes in partnership with VSA of NH and The NH Council on the Arts. There will be a culminating event scheduled to take place Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Capitol Center for The Arts – Govenor’s Hall. We will be hosting an Art Exhibit, Live Drumming and a Dance Video. In April, we will be offering Fire Safety Classes in partnership with the Concord Fire Department. The Fire Safety classes will be free to the public.
We are very excited about our new project and hope that it will grow to include an array of educational opportunities for those adults who never had the opportunity to attend educational classes in the community, and for those who are leaving high school and desire to continue their education. We are currently in the process of submitting grant applications to assist with the funding for the expansion of this project, and hope to include such classes as Personal Rights, Braille, Reading 101, US History, Community Safety, Photography, Adult Sexuality, Band, Consumer Education, Computer Applications, and Information on Guardianship in NH. We welcome others to give of their time, treasure and talent to support us with this project. For more information, please contact Marlene French @ (603) 224-8111 or at mfrench@LSSNE.org
