Waiting Parents
Matt and Allyson... waiting in Rhode Island
Hello!
Thank you for taking to time to learn a bit about our family. We are
Matt and Allyson and we are grateful for the opportunity to tell you
about our family, our home, and our hopes and dreams for a child.
We met 18 years ago at our church youth group and quickly became close
friends. We started dating in high school and even though we went to
different high schools and colleges our relationship remained strong
and we’ve been together ever since. Matt moved to Rhode Island to be
with Allyson as she finished pharmacy school and we were married in
2001.
We bought our home in a quiet rural area of Rhode Island in 2004 and
immediately starting making it our own. It is a cozy house with a
great big yard to play in and a nature preserve across the road. Our
community has several state parks, farms and plenty of things to do in
town with the library, lakes with beaches, and playgrounds. Our town
has a great school system and the schools are close by. We chose to
live in this area because it is a great place to raise a family.
After getting settled in our home, we decided that we were ready to
start a family and in the spring of 2008 our son Evan was born.
Allyson had a very difficult pregnancy and we have decided that
adoption would be our best path to grow our family. All of our family
and friends are incredibly supportive of our plans to adopt and are
excited to welcome another member into our family. Evan is a silly,
inquisitive and energetic little guy who will make an awesome big
brother.
Matt works from home as a graphic designer for a small company which
designs for the toy industry. We value the time we spend together as a
family and love that on most days we eat every meal together. Matt is
very handy around the house and his many interests range from
woodworking in his shop building furniture and toys, to mountain
biking, rebuilding his classic Mustang.
Allyson works part-time as a retail pharmacist and loves having so
much time at home to be a mother and that she gets home on workdays in
time to put Evan to bed. She likes to sew and crochet and Evan has
been the recipient of most of her recent projects. She also enjoys
spending time outside and tending to the many flowers in our yard.
As a family we like to get dirty playing in the garden, going for
hikes in nearby forests, and reading together snuggled up on the sofa.
We also like to visit the city, the library and the zoo. We feel that
we make a great team and try to remember never to take ourselves too
seriously. We believe that religion provides a strong foundation for
our lives and hope to raise our children with strong morals and
values, while giving them plenty of space to explore who they are as
individuals. Our goal is to provide a stable, loving home for our
children, and provide them with the education, guidance and support
they need to become happy and confident people.
If you feel a connection to us, we would be overjoyed to welcome him
or her into our family. We wish you peace with whatever you decide.
